PROGRESSIVE
Charles City (population 7,652), the county seat of Floyd County, is situated along the Avenue of the Saints (Iowa 27) in northern Iowa. It is a significant commercial and transportation center for the area, located on U.S. Highways 18 and 218, Iowa Highway 14, and the Canadian National Railway Co. and the Canadian Pacific Railroad.
RICH HISTORY
Charles City is known as the birthplace of the farm tractor in the early 1900’s by the Hart-Parr Company. The Hart-Parr gasoline-powered traction engine was the first production-model tractor in the U.S. and now the Floyd County History Museum preserves the history of our farming history and more.
GREAT LOCATION
Charles City serves as the county seat of Floyd County and is situated along the Avenue of the Saints four-lane highway that makes it easily accessed from Des Moines, Iowa, and the Twin Cities to Des Moines, Minneapolis, Chicago, Kansas City, and Omaha. Air, rail and bus service are also conveniently available close by.
