Machine Tool Engineering Machine Tool Engineering (MTE) has been at its current location since 1976. Sarah and Kurt George purchased the business in 1989. At that time, the shop equipment consisted of an engine lathe and two Bridgeport mills. Our primary focus was on repair and maintenance for local industries. Over the years, our company has seen three additions to the original building increasing the total facility size of 18.300 square feet. Housed in this facility are eighteen CNC machines and a full line or support equipment. MTE is now servicing customers from all over the United States in a variety of markets. We specialize in tight tolerance turning and milling operations with grinding capabilities. MTE offers the latest in CNC technology to provide our customers with the top quality service they expect. There are few jobs that are too large or too small for us to handle. We are experienced in taking a prototype need through production. We provide certified inspection following ISO 9001/2000, also optionally offering CMM documentation. Complimenting our late model Mitutoyo CMM, is our full line of supporting inspection equipment. Climate controlling the entire facility helps MTE achieve accurate and repeatable results from the first stages of production through the final phases of inspection. Upon request our skilled inspection personnel will provide any dimensional documentation may be required. “Machine Tool Engineering is committed to provide our customers with the highest quality products. We continuously strive to meet or exceed our customer’s quality standards through rigorous inspection procedures. We offer serialization of parts and many outsourcing options, from heat treat to coatings,” said Sarah George, president of MTE. Kurt George said, “Partnering with the City and Area Development helped us through a variety of ways to grow our business.” Sarah George, President Kurt George, Vice President Brian Ross, Operations Manager Telephone: 641-228-4524 |

Our presence in Charles City has been felt since the 1940s, first as Dr. Salsbury's Laboratories, then Solvay Animal Health from the mid 80's until March, 1997. Now, as Fort Dodge Animal Health, we plan to continue to be the area's preferred place of employment, offering excellent pay and benefit packages to our employees. Our company, on an annual basis, provides financial support to many area organizations including the American Cancer Society, Heart Association, United Way, YMCA, and the local school system, to name a few. We also make donations towards local area events/activities for dozens of other area organizations each year. The years ahead look bright for FDAH's future success in Charles City.

We have established relationships with numerous drug companies worldwide working on exciting new products for the treatment of a wide range of diseases. Salsbury is proud of the contribution it makes to improving the health and well-being of literally millions of people suffering from various health afflictions. Current Salsbury products are used to make drugs for the treatment of prostate cancer, intestinal bowel disorders, atherosclerosis, pulmonary inflammation, cholesterol reduction, and kidney dialysis. Salsbury has grown considerably under Cambrex's ownership and will continue to play a key role in Cambrex's success as a leading global supplier of human health products to the Life Sciences industry. Salsbury could not have enjoyed this success without the support of the community, city, county, and state. "The Charles City Area Development Corporation (CCADC) embodies this support at the local level and has been very instrumental in facilitating Salsbury's growth need; whether it be infrastructure such as highway access, storm water control, airport improvements, or facilitating TIF grants for major expansion. Salsbury considers the CCADC a partner in facilitating the growth of our business," says Russ Smith, Senior Vice President Operations & Site Manager. |
