Floyd is located on the
Avenue of the Saints at the intersection of Highway 218 and 18 with four exits
into Floyd. The Cedar River borders the town on the north edge.
Two new development projects have just been completedHighway 218 Fuel Express (truck/gas/convenience stop) and a new restaurant, Dugan's Restaurant and Lounge. Other areas located at the Avenue of the Saints exits are available to be developed.
Floyd is a great small-town community with a big summer t-ball program, Dollars for Scholars scholarship program, parks, playgrounds, picnic and camping areas, two churches, and a Christian K-12 school. The community center, which has a gym, playground, reception area, and Bingo held weekly is widely utilized by Floyd County citizenry.
Floyd is home to light manufacturing and very unique main street businesses! The Greenman Carriage Co. owner is a wheelwright and repairs buggies from across the country. There are craft shops, an antique shop, a hardware/car parts store, a music store with recording studio, a restaurant/bar, car repair garage, and rock quarry.

The Little Brown Church in the Vale: The Little Brown Church was made famous by Dr. William Pitts' song. Many weddings are performed in this rustic atmosphere. All who have been married at the Little Brown Church are invited to the Annual Wedding Reunion held the first Sunday in August. The Bradford Pioneer Village, located next to the Little Brown Church, is a historical museum operated by the Chickasaw County Historical Society.
Red Cedar Lake: This 700 acre lake is a must see at Nashua. Boaters and fishermen alike find enjoyment at the Red Cedar Lake.
The Best Kept Secret in Northern IowaOur City Parks: Cedar View Park is a modern camping facility with playgrounds, tennis courts, horseshoes, boating, and fishing available. Cannon Park is a small off the road picnic area with a gazebo and river view. Veteran's Park is dedicated to all servicemen, has fishing available below the dam and a picnic area. Lakeshore Park hosts a gazebo shelter, boating, and walking trail.
The Nashua-Plainfield Community School District: Our school district utilizes three facilities: Nashua Elementary School, Plainfield Elementary/Middle School, and the Nashua-Plainfield High School. The district serves approximately 870 students in grades PK-12. The major goal is to offer a quality educational experience for each and every on of our students.
Churches: First Congregational Church, First United Methodist Church, Little Brown Church, St. John's Lutheran Church, and St. Michael's Catholic Church.
Industrial: Farmer's Coop provides for the needs of area farmers.
Housing subdivisions: There are many attractive housing subdivisions in Nashua ready for you to build your home. We are a short commute to Charles City, Waverly, Waterloo, and Mason City. The subdivisions include Cedar Hill First Addition, Demro Addition, Schluter Addition, and Tomani Greens Addition.
Golfing: The Nashua Town & Country Club has a 9-hole golf course and club house. It is located on the south edge of Nashua and is the site of many receptions.
